How to Craft Your Signature Offering: A Step-by-Step Guide from a Brand Strategist

Whether you aim to build a brand, market with ease, or create more income and impact, your signature offering is your launchpad.

Many of my clients, especially those just starting out often wonder, "What should I offer?"

This question is not just about packaging your expertise but also making it appealing and valuable to potential clients. There are many directions you could take—courses, one-on-one coaching, memberships, digital goods—but what's the best for you?

Let's break it down step by step.

Inside this post, we’ll dive into:

  • The option I recommend most entrepreneurs get started with is a low-cost, low-barrier to entry so they can reinvest into their business quickly.

  • The 5-step process for discovering your signature offering that is authentic and aligned to you and the vision you have for your business.

  • The different types of offerings you can create and the pros and cons of each.

Your blog content is below, but for the full content, and all the insider tips, listen to Episode 97 now.

The Easier Entry Point: One-to-One Services

When I first began my entrepreneurial journey, I offered one-to-one services. It was the quickest, simplest, and most cost-effective way to get started.

Instead of investing upfront in various tools or platforms, I used basic resources available at the time, like a free Zoom account and PayPal invoices. This allowed me to start making money right away, charging more for personalized services, which made it easier to hit revenue goals with fewer clients.

If you're new to the entrepreneurial world, consider starting with one-to-one services.

It's tempting to jump straight into creating a course or a membership program, but these require significant upfront investment and time. In contrast, one-to-one services allow you to start now, with minimal overhead.

You can quickly put up a service page, use free scheduling and invoicing tools, and connect with clients almost immediately.

Whatever option you ultimately choose, let’s break down the step-by-step process to determine what’s right for you.

Step 1: Brainstorm Your Expertise

Create a comprehensive list of all the areas you excel in. Think about what your friends, family, or coworkers ask you for advice on. Are there skills you've self-taught or areas where you have substantial experience? Your academic credentials and any specific education should also be included. This brainstorming phase is about putting everything out there without judgment.

This step is about identifying your unique skills and knowledge that can be turned into a valuable product or service.

Step 2: Prioritize Impact and Income

From your list, identify items that could generate the most significant income and have the highest impact.

Your goal is to align your skills with market demand. This step requires you to think about your overall business and lifestyle goals. If your aim is to build a sustainable business, you need to focus on offerings that will bring in steady income.

Balancing impact and income is crucial to ensure your offering aligns with both your mission and your financial goals.

Step 3: Identify Your Ideal Customer

Now, think about who you want to serve. Your ideal customer is the person you would love to work with every single day. If you already have a clear picture of this person, great! If not, start dreaming up their characteristics now.

Some questions to dive into are:

What problems are they experiencing?
What are their goals and desires?
What solutions are they seeking?
How can your expertise address their specific challenges?

Check out this resource for more information on doing market research.

Step 4: Solve a Specific Problem

Every successful business solves a particular problem.

Look at your narrowed list and ask yourself which of these problems you can solve for your ideal customer. Be very specific.

A clearly defined problem helps you design an offering that addresses a pressing need for your ideal customer. Remember, customers are willing to invest in solutions that alleviate their pain points.

Step 5: Decide on the Delivery Method

Now, it’s time to determine how you will deliver this offering.

Consider various formats such as:

  • One-to-One Services: Ideal for personalized, high-touch solutions.

  • Group Programs: Great for supporting multiple clients simultaneously with a community feel.

  • Courses: Evergreen and passive income options where you create content once and sell it multiple times.

  • Memberships: Ongoing support or educational content updated regularly.

  • Digital Goods: Lower-priced, one-off products like templates, checklists, or eBooks.

Based on your expertise and the problem you aim to solve, select the appropriate delivery method for your offering. Listen to the full episode to hear the pros and cons of each.

Then assess the pros and cons of each method and choose the one that aligns with your target market's preferences and your desired income goals.

CONCLUSION

Creating your signature offering starts with understanding what you bring to the table and matching it to what your market needs. From there, it's about narrowing your focus, understanding your audience, and choosing the optimal delivery method to solve specific problems and generate income.

Reassessing Your Entrepreneurial Journey: Pivoting Toward a Six-Figure Business

Are you an entrepreneur feeling stuck, like your efforts aren't yielding the desired results?

Today, on the podcast, we'll explore key areas to reassess in order to pivot your way to a six-figure business.

Whether you're aiming for consistent 3K months or striving for a six-figure year, understanding where to focus your time and energy is crucial for growth.

In this episode, we address the concerns of entrepreneurs who have laid the foundation for their businesses, created content, and marketed their offers, yet struggle to gain traction.

In today’s episode of the Brandmerry Podcast you’ll discover:

  • The three key areas to focus on daily in your business for success.

  • The foundational steps you might have missed and how to adjust them quickly to start seeing results.

  • The fastest change you can make to your marketing efforts to start getting your brand seen and paid consistently.

For the full content, and all the insider tips, listen to Episode 96 now.

The Three Key Business Actions to Take Daily as an Entrepreneur

Let's break down the entrepreneurial journey into three fundamental areas (aka daily steps) that can guide your efforts and maximize results in your business.

Brand Awareness: At the top of the funnel, brand awareness involves making your brand discoverable to potential customers consistently. You can understand why this is so important, if people don’t know your brand exists they can’t pay you.

Brand Attraction: Once aware, potential customers move to the attraction phase, where they follow you on various platforms and subscribe to your email list. They have said YES to learning more about your brand and your offerings. At this stage, building your email list should be a top priority.

Brand Connection: In order to make a sale, we must experience a connection. Building a connection with your audience involves sharing stories and promoting your offers with benefit-driven messaging that inspires them to take action.

By focusing on these three areas, you can grow your audience, engage potential customers, and make sales on an ongoing basis.

This blog post shared additional details on these three steps.

Auditing Your Business: Assessing Your Entrepreneurial Journey

If you’re taking action, but not seeing the results you’ve desired here are three areas to audit and make adjustments as needed.

1. Lead Generation: The Foundation of Growth

To sustain and expand your business, consistent lead generation is important. Do you have the pieces in place to collect email addresses daily? Offering valuable lead magnets is key to pre-qualifying potential leads and achieving better conversion rates.

2. Brand Awareness: The Power of Consistency

Consistency in online presence is crucial for brand awareness. It’s time to be honest with yourself and audit if you’re truly being consistent.

If you are being consistent, then we need to take the next step and determine if you are effectively utilizing different platforms and adhering to best practices to optimize your content. Every single platform is different and it’s important that you understand what works on your core platforms in order to see results.

If you’re not already leveraging evergreen marketing strategies to reach a broader audience consistently now is the time to put these in place. Evergreen platforms offer sustainability and consistent growth, even when you're not actively creating new content. Leverage YouTube, blogging, Pinterest, or podcasting to optimize your marketing efforts and reach a broader audience over time.

3. Brand Connection: Communicating Value Effectively

The brand connection phase involves effective communication of your offer's problem-solving abilities and benefits. Clearly articulate the problems you solve and the benefits customers will experience upon engaging with your brand.

Mastering authentic selling and enhancing conversion rates will further elevate your success. Focus on mastering authentic selling to convert potential leads into paying customers seamlessly.
Clearly communicate the problems your offer solves and the benefits customers will gain, ensuring your message resonates effectively.

Learn more about Brand Messaging in this video.

The Importance of Experimentation as an Entrepreneur

In the ever-evolving entrepreneurial landscape, embracing experimentation is essential.

There's no one-size-fits-all approach; you need to tailor strategies to align with your brand and resonate with your target audience.

Reassessing and optimizing your entrepreneurial journey is a continuous process.

Focus on embracing evergreen marketing and authentic selling to propel your business toward the six-figure success you envision.

Your Voice Matters: How to Impact Your Audience by Showing Up Online as a Business Owner

In today’s online world, authenticity has become a buzzword, especially as it relates to branding and online marketing. Last week, on the podcast, we dove deep into the importance of showing up authentically online, and today, we’re continuing the conversation by shifting our focus to another crucial aspect: "Being Seen Online."

Showing up online brings up the topic of vulnerability – a word that, rightfully so, can strike fear into the hearts of many when it comes to their online presence. It's a challenge that even the most seasoned entrepreneurs face.

But it's a challenge that, when embraced, can lead to building trust with your audience. For those of you who resonate with this struggle, you're not alone. If you’re looking for resources, Brené Brown's work on vulnerability has been a guiding light for me on my journey.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why showing up online, and embracing your vulnerability no matter how uncomfortable it can be can be life-changing for you and your audience.

  • What vulnerability and being seen really entails - hint it’s not about sharing everything online.

  • My top tips for sharing your story online via your content, and how this practice alone can lead to a more consistent presence for your business online.

For the full content, and all the insider tips, listen to Episode 94 now.

Shifting Your Mindset Around Being Seen

One of the most beautiful aspects of having an online business is the opportunity to make an impact, even if it's just on one person.

Remember, your purpose is not solely about reaching millions or achieving high sales numbers. It's about touching someone's life with your unique experiences and insights.

Knowing that even one person is positively impacted by your content can be a powerful motivator to keep showing up. This of course leads to more consistency which is a cornerstone of a successful online presence. Over time, this consistency builds trust with your audience and community, leading to growth and sales.

Get Crystal Clear on Your Ideal Customer

Ideal customer work may seem time-consuming, but it's essential. It truly plays a role in everything you will create via your marketing moving forward.

By defining your ideal customer, you can better empathize with their needs and tailor your content to resonate with them. It also helps you understand what types of stories can be shared online to make the greatest impact. This approach makes it easier to show up authentically and provide value.

Balancing Vulnerability and Privacy in Brand Storytelling

Brand storytelling is an amazing tool for building connections with your audience. However, the challenge often lies in finding the right balance between vulnerability and privacy. It's essential to determine what feels right for you, aligns with your brand, and respects your boundaries.

You absolutely do not need to share everything about your personal life online. If you don’t feel comfortable, it’s ok to keep some things sacred. I’ve found from my experience, that you’re able to provide the best experience for your audience when you’re on the other side and can provide value.

Value and Benefit: The Two Pillars to Great Brand Storytelling

Before sharing any piece of content, ask yourself, "What value and benefit does this offer my audience?"

If you can't articulate this clearly, reconsider sharing it at this moment. It doesn’t mean it’s not a great story or piece of content, but it might be better to share it at a later date. Providing value is the foundation of trust and connection, ultimately leading to business success, so we always need to keep this in mind when choosing our stories.

Intentionality in Your Content

Instead of aiming for viral fame or massive likes, focus on creating intentional content that serves your ideal customer.

Being deliberate in what you share ensures that you attract the right audience and, more importantly, the right customers.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, remember that there's someone, somewhere who needs to hear your message.

By embracing authenticity, consistency, and value-driven content, you're not just doing your business a great service; you're making a difference in the world.

Your story has the potential to inspire, educate, and motivate others. Don't hide behind your brand; let your voice be heard. Embrace vulnerability, find your balance, and share your unique journey.

Your impact may be more significant than you can imagine, but you’ll never know if you don’t put yourself out there (even if small steps at first).

Remember, your story is worth sharing.

Finding Your Authenticity as an Online Business Owner: Standing Out in the Age of AI and Trends

In a world dominated by trends and AI, the concept of authenticity seems to be fading away.

Entrepreneurs are constantly telling me they want to build authentic brands, yet they seek quick fixes and copy-and-paste templates that undermine the essence of true authenticity. This podcast will dive into the importance of authenticity in the online landscape and provide practical tips to help you discover and showcase your authentic self to your audience.

I know at the end of the day that building an authentic brand is important to you, but at the same time can feel incredibly hard and daunting. My hope is that by being here you’ll finally feel confident and clear on how to show up online in a way that honors your values and personality, while also creating revenue.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why authenticity is important in standing out online in a world where business owners and content creators are seeking shortcuts and consumers are desiring connection and honesty.

  • Four simple steps to start discovering what makes you truly authentic and how to incorporate that into your branding and marketing.

  • Three of my favorite methods for showcasing my authenticity online via my marketing efforts.

For the full content, and all the insider tips, listen to Episode 94 now.

The Challenge of Authenticity in the Age of Trends

Authenticity is a term often thrown around in the business world, but it's not always easy to define or achieve.

The rise of social media has introduced a narrative that promises instant success with specific formulas and templates. "10k followers in a month" or "5k in 2 days" are just some examples of the enticing promises made by trend-driven content.

However, the reality is that you can't simply copy and paste your way to a brand that truly stands out online. Consumers crave authenticity, and it's essential for entrepreneurs to find their unique voice in a world inundated with repetitive content.

As these new tools and changes impact us as marketers, it’s also impacting our consumers. 70 percent of consumers reportedly spend more with authentic brands. Authenticity refers to the extent to which consumers perceive a brand to be genuine, transparent, and consistent in their communication and behavior.

The Impact of Social Media Narratives on Brand Authenticity

Social media platforms contribute significantly to the struggle for authenticity.

With constant pressure to gain followers, views, and sales, entrepreneurs often find themselves tempted to follow the trends and mimic what seems to be working for others. It's easy to believe that success lies in copying what's currently popular.

But remember, authenticity isn't about mimicking someone else's actions; it's about being true to yourself and your brand. It's about expressing your unique perspective and values.

While it might seem easier to follow a trend or a hack online, it’s actually pulling you further away from discovering what makes you authentic.

Understanding and embracing your authenticity is an ongoing journey. As an entrepreneur, you're continually evolving and adapting to new challenges and opportunities. The key is to stay committed to this path and remain true to your core values while allowing yourself to grow and change - it will pay off!

Practical Steps to Find and Showcase Your Authenticity as a Business Owner

1. Know Yourself (and if you don’t then take time to figure it out)

To build an authentic brand, you must first know who you are. Reflect on what has brought you to this point, your beliefs, values, and what you stand for. This self-awareness will serve as the foundation for your brand.

This is one of the reasons I love teaching the power of brand storytelling because through this practice you not only learn how to connect with your audience but also discover more about yourself.

2. Embrace Your Values and Share Them

Values play a crucial role in building an authentic brand. It's not enough to declare your values on your website; you must embody them and show them through your actions, content, and messaging. Show your audience what you stand for and what you stand against. Only then can you create a truly authentic and stand-out brand.

3. Experiment With Your Messaging and Content

Experimentation is a powerful tool for discovering your authentic voice. Try different approaches, test various content types, and observe how your audience responds. The process of trial and error will help you refine your messaging and find what resonates most with your audience.

The reason I write as I do today is because I’ve been writing to my audience for years. A lot of things flopped, and a lot succeeded. I allowed myself to experiment so I could discover what felt good in my body and what felt the most aligned. This experimentation is necessary when stepping into and sharing your authentic brand with the world.

4. Consume Outside Your Industry

Some of the best advice I ever received was to expand my horizons by consuming content from outside my industry. By doing so, I not only nipped my comparisonitis in the bud, but also gained fresh perspectives, ideas, and inspiration that I could then apply to your niche. It’s originally how I discovered the importance and power of SEO long before coaches and consultants in my industry were talking about it.

Want to differentiate yourself naturally from others in your industry and stand out, stop consuming their content.

5. Storytelling

Storytelling is a potent means of connecting with your audience authentically. Share your personal stories, anecdotes, and experiences that align with your brand's values and connect with what your audience is experiencing.

Stories create a genuine connection and help your audience relate to you on a deeper level. We know this is what drives conversions and sales, and leads to brand affinity which is one of the most sustainable brand and marketing practices you can go after!

6. Utilize Video

Video is an effective medium for showcasing authenticity. Use it to tell your story, provide behind-the-scenes glimpses, and share your journey. Video allows your audience to see the real person behind the brand which AI-generated content can not.

7. Speak Directly to Your Ideal Customer

Tailor your messaging directly to your ideal customer. Deeply understanding their needs, desires, and pain points will help you connect with them on a personal level. When your audience feels seen, heard, and understood it builds trust.

Staying consistent with this will lead to a clear, concise, and unified message that your audience will know is you!

CONCLUSION

Authenticity is not just a buzzword; it's a requirement for entrepreneurs in today's digital landscape.

As AI tools continue to evolve, consumers are becoming more discerning, and they can tell the difference between authentic brands and those that are simply following trends. We know the statistics tell us that this is important.

To stand out online and build a brand that truly resonates with your audience, commit to the journey of authenticity. Know yourself, embrace your values, experiment, and use storytelling and video to connect with your audience on a deeper level. Speak directly to your ideal customer, and remember that authenticity is not a destination but an ongoing evolution.

By putting in the work and staying true to your values, you can create a brand that stands the test of time.

Understanding Cycle Syncing as an Entrepreneur: A Guide to Empowering Your Well-being and Productivity

As entrepreneurs and content creators, we often find ourselves juggling a lot of roles and responsibilities, both in our professional lives and personal lives. The demands can be overwhelming, making it challenging to maintain consistent energy and productivity.

In 2021, I discovered that my menstrual cycle was the key to unlocking a more harmonious and balanced approach to life and work.

Since embracing a practice of not only monitoring my cycle but also syncing my schedule to my cycle, my approach to productivity and business has improved drastically.

Inside Episode 93 of The Brandmerry Podcast, I invited Kelly and Tiffany, from Beautiful One Midwifery, to explain the concept of cycle syncing and how understanding your body's natural rhythms can empower your overall well-being and productivity.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • What cycle syncing is and why it matters when planning out your schedule, launches, content creation, and more.

  • The phases of your cycle, and what is needed at each to create more harmony within your body, personal and professional lives.

  • Where to get started, and small actionable steps you can take today to not only improve your cycle but also your overall productivity in a more aligned way.

For the full content, and all the insider tips, listen to Episode 93 now.

What is Cycle Syncing and Why Does it Matter as an Entrepreneur?

Cycle syncing is the practice of aligning your daily activities, exercise routines, and dietary choices with the different phases of your menstrual cycle. It involves recognizing the hormonal shifts that occur throughout your cycle and tailoring your lifestyle accordingly.

By embracing cycle syncing, you can tap into your body's natural rhythms, enhance your energy levels, and optimize your overall health and productivity.

As an entrepreneur, you can imagine why this is essential, as our laundry list of things to accomplish in and outside of our work can be rather long. By understanding how to cycle sync your business, you’ll be able to better plan and adjust your schedule to your personal needs.

Yes, there is a better time to create content and this is the key!

The Four Phases of Your Cycle and How to Create More Harmony

Menstrual Phase: Honoring Rest and Nourishment

This menstrual phase marks the beginning of your cycle.

During this time, your body is shedding the uterine lining, which can lead to lower energy levels and a need for rest.

Embrace warming and nutrient-dense foods to support your body's recovery, and engage in gentle movement and self-care practices.

Listening to your body and allowing yourself to slow down can set the tone for a balanced cycle. This might not be the best time to create content or try to navigate a launch since it’s more of time to go inward.

Follicular Phase: Embracing Creativity and Momentum

As you move into the follicular phase, estrogen levels begin to rise, bringing with them a surge of creative energy and motivation.

This is an excellent time to engage in high-intensity exercises, challenge yourself with new tasks, and harness your mental clarity. As you can imagine, this is a great time to record podcasts, and videos, and write content!

Incorporating fermented foods, greens, and magnesium-rich choices can aid in hormonal balance and support your overall well-being.

Ovulatory Phase: Seizing Peak Creativity and Vitality

Ovulation is a pivotal phase in your cycle, characterized by heightened energy, confidence, and creativity.

This is the time to engage in challenging workouts, embark on new ventures, and embrace social interactions. To support hormonal balance, prioritize protein intake, engage in detoxifying practices, and nourish your body with vibrant foods that enhance your vitality.

Again, you’re in your second week of high energy and creativity, so utilizing this period for launching, and general creation can be beneficial as an entrepreneur.

Luteal Phase: Prioritizing Self-Care and Reflection

The luteal phase occurs after ovulation and involves a rise in progesterone levels. During this time, your body prepares for menstruation, which can lead to shifts in mood and energy.

Focus on moderate exercise, prioritize sleep hygiene, and include fiber-rich foods to support gut health. This phase provides an opportunity for introspection, self-care, and nourishing activities that align with your body's needs.

Taking the First Steps: Cycle Syncing for Beginners

Tip #1: Embracing Awareness and Self-Care

Regardless of where you are in your life journey, developing a daily rhythm of checking in with your body and mind is a crucial starting point.

Tune into your emotions, physical sensations, and energy levels. Consider using tracking apps to log your experiences and gather information about your cycle.

This awareness lays the foundation for understanding your body's unique patterns.

Tip #2: Finding Your Baseline and Identifying Patterns

Over time, you'll begin to recognize your own cycle patterns and preferences. Embrace the process of discovering what feels best for your body during different phases.

Pay attention to food cravings, energy fluctuations, and mood changes.

This information will serve as your guide to aligning your activities, exercise, and self-care practices with your cycle's natural rhythm. A great way to track this information is via a cycle-tracking app.

Tip #3: Creating a Supportive Cycle-Synced Lifestyle

As you become more attuned to your cycle, you can start incorporating cycle-synced practices into your lifestyle.

Experiment with adjusting your exercise intensity, choosing foods that nourish your body at different phases, and allowing yourself grace and rest when needed.

Plan your work tasks, social engagements, and creative projects based on your cycle to maximize productivity and well-being.

CONCLUSION

Embracing cycle syncing offers a powerful way to honor your body's natural rhythm, boost your well-being, and optimize your productivity as an entrepreneur.

By aligning your lifestyle choices with each phase of your cycle, you can harness the unique strengths and energy levels that come with them.

As an entrepreneur and content creator, integrating cycle syncing practices can empower you to show up authentically, achieve balance, and thrive in both your professional and personal endeavors.
